About Us
Welcome
PitifulPaws is a dog and cat refuge that provides a loving, caring and safe environment for those afflicted with deformities, disabilities, chronic disease or terminal illness. Each is generally unadoptable and without our intervention would be euthanized.
Following a rescue we are committed to providing lifelong, quality care and love to each dog and cat. We never spare any expense nor effort to provide optimal quality of life, happiness, veterinary care and attention to those animals to whom we give refuge. They will never again face abandonment, loneliness, neglect, abuse or unnecessary euthanasia.
We are incorporated by the State of California as "PitifulPaws, Inc." and designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity (EIN 81-3277870).
Education
We are beginning to compile the processes and procedures that we have formulated over the years to care for handicapped pets. We will then be positioned to educate veterinarians and pet owners of the choices available to keep a beloved pet who has developed a serious affliction. Euthanasia is not always the only option! Pet owners need not always make this heartbreaking decision and their pet can often live many more enjoyable years. We will share best practices, better methods and tips to care for pets with special needs that we have learned from veterinary specialists as well as our personal experience. We will also suggest cost cutting measures and other information that we have accumulated through trial and error over our ten year existence. We will distribute our message via electronic media and printed materials to to groups who provide similar services as well as the general public.
Our Services
- Segregated cottages for each types of animal with the same communicable disease (e.g. FIV) allowing them to play and interact normally.
- Daily tailored diet, medicine and care each dog and cat in our care.
- Administration of insulin, heart medications, anti inflammatory agents and other drugs as required.
- Ongoing veterinary care including specialists in Cardiology, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Oncology and general veterinary services.
- Daily exercise, walks and therapy.
- LOTS of love and attention.
